Fueling Faith Storms of Life Philippians 3

Pressing On Towards the Goal – Philippians 3:10-21 (Storms of Life)

Read: Philippians 3:10-21 Key Verses: v13-14: Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. What Does it Mean? Paul never stopped looking ahead – not to the immediate future but to the ultimate future, the certainty of eternity. He recognised that looking back was a hinderance to his journey with Jesus, and resolved to always keep his focus on his goal – reaching heaven at the end of his earthly days. As humans, we have a tendency to look back on what was, or what might have been, with rose-tinted glasses. The same […]

Revelation 3:20 Stand at the Door and Knock Fueling Faith

Jesus Stands at the Door – Revelation 3:14-22 (Storms of Life)

Read: Revelation 3:14-22 Key Verse: v20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. What Does it Mean? The Laodicean church was accused of being lukewarm (v16), by which it means that the church was in a state of spiritual bankruptcy and without any redeeming features. These Christians were indifferent to God, and because of their physical wealth had begun to close their hearts to God, forgetting their dependance upon Him. The rebuke that Jesus issued in this passage was issued out of love – He disciplines everyone He loves (v19). Sometimes the rebukes and discipline we receive from God come in the form of what are described as ‘checks in […]

Fueling Faith Zephaniah Mighty to Save

Mighty to Save: Zephaniah 3:9-20 (Storms of Life)

Read: Zephaniah 3:9-20 Key Verse: v17: The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.   What Does it Mean? There’s an amazing picture of God’s tender care and provision in this passage. We’re reminded that even when we walk away from God, He has compassion towards us and will welcome us back into His presence, with grace, mercy and forgiveness. And in His presence, we have no reason to fear or have anxiety about what’s going on around us. He doesn’t always take us out of the storm, but He comforts us in the midst of it. Verse 17 is an often quoted verse, and when you read […]

Standing on Faith in the Storms of Life

Shelter of the Most High – Sample Devotion

Today, I’m sharing with you one of the daily devotions from my first volume of a series entitled “In the Storms of Life”.  IN THE SHELTER OF THE MOST HIGH Read: Psalm 91 Key Verse: Psalm 91:4 (NLT) He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises areyour armor and protection. Reflection Some think that Moses wrote this psalm, though we can’t be sure. Whoever it was, they had a faith in God as their protector Who would carry them through all the dangers and fears that they faced. It’s a picture of trust that we should aspire to have also! This psalm paints a comforting and sustaining portrait of God as a shelter, or even as a place of hiding. Remember how God hid Moses in […]
